Behind every piece of art there is an artist. Behind every artist there is a story. It is the story within the artist that gives them inspiration and unharnesses their imagination, allowing them to create things that astonish us and move us. We so love sharing our artists and their inspiration with you, so when someone asks, "where did you that lovely piece”, the answer can be, “Let me tell you the story”…
At Charleston Forge we work with a lot of artists, beginning with design and creation of each piece. One of our designers, John Davis from Roanoke, Virginia, has a story about the concept behind the Monarch base. John was crossing an ancient arched stone bridge over a rushing stream in Sweden when he felt inspired to interpret the scene into a console for Charleston Forge. It was a grey day, cloudy and misting but the shape of that bridge piped rays of beauty into his imagination. Instantly he knew that the frame finish had to be done in our hand-rubbed antique silver, reflecting the character of that day. The path over the bridge was covered in fine small ebony colored stones, the likes of which he had never seen. So, he directed the solid maple top of the console to be a soft, alligator skin texture in our hand applied, ebony finish. Mission accomplished, a magnificent console, inspired by ancient shapes, interpreted into modern form.
This is the original Monarch Console as designed by John Davis.
Now for the rest of the story...
Out in our factory, Ernie works hard with John's original plans.
He then builds each piece by hand, carefully measuring each bend, cut and weld.
From John's original design, other stunning Monarch creations have emerged...
such as the Monarch Bench...
The newest Desk introduction...
and a multitude of custom pieces requested by interior designers and everyday Charleston Forge customers, such as this one shown below.

When the second location of Roosters Wood-Fired Grill in Uptown Charlotte was in the planning stages, it was part of the design theme to use as many local resources as possible. Charleston Forge and Wright Table, among other local artisans and manufacturers, were brought together to light, decorate and create for this Charlotte treasure.
Over the last few months, the Rooster's Team, designer Holly Carter, and Charleston Forge, have worked together from concept to install to create metal forged lighting systems (a new, yet very successful venture), and a quite impressively sized wine rack for the restaurants impressive wine selection.
Rooster's, the brainchild of Chef Jim Nobel (of Nobel's Restaurant in High Point, NC) and team, provides upscale mouth watering, reasonably priced fair, in a beautiful atmosphere for the Charlotte area. Imagine walking off the streets of the bustling large city of Charlotte, most often thought of as the banking capital of the southeast, into a warmly lit restaurant filled with wooden tables, hand-forged metals, and beautiful design; all created and welded by the hands of locals with a distinctly upscale southern appeal.

A cozy autumn evening in front of the fire most certainly should include indulging in sweet, melting s'mores. Hand forged skewers from CF Home's online store will toast the marshmallows perfectly. And on this particular autumn evening, we sandwiched the toasted marshmallows and melting chocolate between the best home made graham crackers we have ever tasted. Yum! They were baked from Susan Barber's personal recipe, which she will share with you. Just drop Susan an email with 'graham crackers' in the subject line. email@example.com
You can also purchase the skewers for yourself or as a gift, here on our online store:

It's our passion every day to fill orders, speak with designers and customers, and build customs to fit clients wants and needs, right here in America... and we love every minute of it. What can we create for you?
Shown below is a cool cocktail table prototype that came off the line a few weeks ago. If you can dream it in metal we can do it.

We love seeing custom pieces come through our shop every day.
The scale of materials, and the finish combinations made this piece especially attractive. This table, shown in our Antique Pewter finish with a Saddle on Maple top complimented by vintage distressing, was custom made specifically for Interior Accents in London, ON, Canada.
Pure and Simple. It's what we do. We are Charleston Forge.

A classic example of custom opportunities and the advantage of ordering American Made.
We received an order from a "customer in distress" needing 100 custom tables within six days. Charleston Forge to the rescue.
Try that from some far off land.

The six legged Prague Bench was introduced at the Spring 2012 Market in High Point. That, along with the Legacy Bench, we among our top sellers. They are especially popular because they exhibit who we are and what we do best. Heating metal to more than 2,000 degrees and shaping it by hand and hammer is not an easy task, but one that we take pride in. Pride in our craftsmanship is obvious especially when we are asking our artisans to repeat "the look" more than once, by hand, not by machine.
We've combined top of the line, solft, saddle stiched leather, with solid steel to create these beautiful pieces. Consider placing a bench at the foot of the bed, in the hallway or foyer, or even as an alternative to chairs at the dining room table.
